Wednesday, Aug. 31st – Memphis Update

Memphis had surgery yesterday to repair the hernia  and close up the wound. It was a pretty rough recovery day with lots of pain. The surgeon said that the surgery itself went without complications and everything looked good but the pain has taken us by surprise. After talking to the doctor about things, he said that the muscle layer in the abdomen had receeded to the side signifigantly and so there is a lot of re-training those muscles to go back to where they belong. A very painful process for Memphis. She is resistant to taking pain medications and prefers to tough it out , which is a blessing and a curse. She’s tough, so that will help recovery in the long run but Joe and I made the decision to have the nurse give her a dose of morphine last night so she could rest after being in tears for over an hour and still refusing the meds. The doctor told her the less pain meds she took, the sooner she could go home so she is determined to not take any, which wasn’t the intention of telling her this. She slept most of the afternoon yesterday because of the after effects of the anesthesia, then we spent the evening hours in pain control, and up into the wee hours after we got her comfortable. She is still sleeping this morning, as of this posting, so days and nights are a little mixed up. I spent the night laying next to her in bed because she didn’t want to be left alone and says she has a hard time waking me when I’m on the fold out bed in the room.

We have been receiving flowers, phone calls, and cards from the local community and she really enjoyed the glow sticks she got when she was up late last night. we turned off all the lights in her room and played swords with them and that occupied much of her attention and time before she fell back to sleep. All the support both in our local community and the radio community has been greatly appreciated and uplifting for us. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers, they are working.

We are still hoping to go home tomorrow but it really depends on her pain factor today when we try and get her up and moving so those muscles can stretch and move to the correct position. She has been so brave and tough, we are proud of her determination to go without meds and get back home.

Thanks again to everyone for being such a blessing and source of strength for Memphis, Joe and I and for the local community helping with the family back at home.

Liberty Dollar deemed counterfeit by jury. Founder speaks out.

He produced silver, copper, and gold medallions to be bought, sold, and exchanged, but a jury calls it counterfeiting and convicted him.

Now, he’s talking to NBC25.

Bernard von NotHaus, the founder of Liberty Dollar, says he’s a political prisoner and that your money will soon be worth even less.

For the last 12-years, Liberty Dollar based in Evansville, Indiana, produced copper, silver, and gold rounds.

They can’t be called “coins” because only the government makes those.

“People are interested in their money and when they know they’re getting screwed, they get real interested in their money and that’s why the government cracked down on Liberty Dollar,” von NotHaus tells NBC25.

In 2010, NBC25 did a series of stories on this competing currency with thousands of people liking it and sharing it on Facebook.

Liberty Dollar says its product is different from and superior to U.S. legal tender because it’s inflation-proof and based on the value of precious metals.

“In the last 10 years, the Liberty Dollar went from a $10 base to a $50 base. It increased in value 500%. The other currency in the last ten years lost 50% of its purchasing power,” says von NotHaus. “How can a counterfeit be worth more than the original?”

The U.S. Government says Liberty Dollar comes too close to legal tender with its use of the inscriptions “liberty,” “dollars,” “trust in God” (similar to “in God we trust”) and “USA.”

In 2006, the U.S. Mint told the public, “Prosecutors with the Department of Justice have determined that the use of these gold and silver NORFED ‘liberty dollar’ medallions as circulating money is a federal crime.”

For those who own his product, von NotHaus says, “I love my country, but I fear the government.”

The most serious conviction carries a 15-year prison term.

Von NotHaus is appealing the conviction.

There’s an April 4th court date to decide if Liberty Dollar will be forced to forfeit its products to the government.

It includes 16,000 pounds of precious metals valued at nearly $7-million.

E MAIL FROM BERNARD  !!!

Dear Liberty Dollar Supporters,

I sincerely regret to inform you that I was found guilty on all four counts regarding the Liberty Dollar in less than an hour on Friday, March 18. The only explanation is that a strong, anti-liberty person took control of a weak-willed jury and pushed the verdict through in record time in spite of well worded Jury Instructions. A government forfeiture hearing immediately followed the conviction. PLEASE NOTE: Your property is at risk so please continue to read these emails and take action so the government does not steal your property. An appeal is planned but that will take years. More news to follow. An unofficial, but most interesting account of the trial is available via Heather’s blog at:
http://www.liberty4free.com/Liberty%20Dollar%20Trial.htm
God help you and our country as American descends into a hellish hyperinflationary future without the benefits of the Liberty Dollar.
I am very sorry our efforts to return America to value failed.

Thank you so much for your support.

Memphis Update

As many of our listeners know, Monday, August 15th our 9-year-old daughter, Memphis, had an appendectomy. Five days after her surgery (19th) she was discharged from hospital to complete her recovery at home, restricted to one teaspoon per hour of clear liquid.

Saturday(20th), everything was looking great and her doctor called and decided that she could increase her intake of clear liquids.

Sunday(21st), things were looking up as well until the evening when her incision site started to seep some fluid. We called her doctor and after asking us some questions he thought that it seemed pretty normal and that she could wait until her already scheduled Monday appointment to look at it.

The Monday (22nd) appointment was made on Friday  in order to remove the incision staples. When we dressed the incision to take her to her appointment on Monday, it was still seeping the same clear liquid and there was no redness around her incision. When we got to town and the doctor uncovered the incision to remove the staples, it wasn’t looking so well. The seepage had changed from a clear liquid to one with puss and blood in it. Redness had set in around the incision staples and the doctor appeared a little alarmed. As he began to remove the staples, it was apparant that the skin was not healed enough to hold the wound shut and the incision immediately began to seperate.  He told us that this should be completely healed after a week  and that this was definately not normal. We were referred to Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital in Spokane, Washington and our doctor called ahead and let them know what was happening and to expect us.  The four-hour drive was grueling for her and the last half, almost unbearable.

Monday, upon admission to Sacred Heart, the wound had a few small areas that had seperated and an IV with fluids and anti-biotics were given and bedrest with bathroom priveliges ordered.

Tuesday(23rd) the wound had completely opened back up. A CT Scan was done to insure that there was no internal abcess or infection. In talking with the doctor Tuesday, he verified that there was no internal infections, only in the incision itself. He said to make plans to be here at least a week and told us the game plan was to let the wound clean itself with the help of the anti-biotics as he couldn’t do any repair with infection in it.

Wednesday(24th) Memphis was started on TPN & Lipids, as she has had nothing to eat that has stayed with her since Friday, August 12th. TPN is intrevenious nutrition (Total Protein Nutrition) and Lipids are fatty amino acids. She is still unable to eat or drink anything by mouth but is feeling much better. Her wound has been cleaning up nicely.

Thursday(25th), after talking to the doctor, it is apparent that the wound is cleaning itself and even beginning to pull together a bit on it’s own. His plan now is to do another surgery to repair the hernia and close the wound early next week, after she has some nutrition over the weekend. If post-op healing goes well, we may talk about coming home late next week.

Friday(26th) Just waiting for wound to clean itself, continued antibiotics, response to TPN (Total Protein Nutrition) and also Lipids through IV (these are fatty amino acids for weight gain) has been positive.

Saturday(27th) Began liquid diet again and moved up to soft foods in evening. TPN and Lipids through IV continue

Sunday(28th) back on solid foods and doing well. Much improved Spirit after TPN was started. We’ve been taking outside in the wheelchair every day. We spent some time in the pediatrics playroom putting together puzzles and playing board games. She’s up and moving around her room without help but still has to drag her IV pole with her everywhere because she’s still getting the total protein nutrition and lipids through her IV.

Monday (29th) Talk has been possible surgery today but for sure by tomorrow to close the hernia and skin. she has been healing rapidly since they got some protein and nutrition into her and still doing well on solid foods. I will update later today after we’ve talked to the Doctor about when surgery will take place and let everyone know what’s happening.

As always, we are humbled and grateful for the outpouring of donations, prayers, and well-wishes for Memphis. A BIG thanks to John Lipscomb “Big John” for offering to match donations dollar for dollar. (see front page banner at www.themicroeffect.com to help with expenses)

Thanks again

Mysterious wounds point to Israel’s use of new weapon

Rory McCarthy in Gaza City
October 19, 2006

DOCTORS in Gaza have reported previously unseen injuries from Israeli weapons that cause severe burning and leave deep internal wounds, often resulting in amputations or death.

The injuries were first seen in July, when Israel attacked Gaza after Palestinian militants captured an Israeli soldier.

“Bodies arrived severely fragmented, melted and disfigured,” said Jumaa Saqa’a, a doctor at the Shifa hospital in Gaza City.

“We found internal burning of organs, while externally there were minute pieces of shrapnel. When we opened many of the injured people we found dusting on their internal organs.”

It is not clear whether the injuries come from a new weapon. The Israeli military denied reports that the injuries came from a Dense Inert Metal Explosive (Dime), an experimental weapon.

In Gaza, Dr Saqa’a said the small pieces of shrapnel found in patients’ bodies did not show up under X-ray. “We are used to seeing shrapnel penetrate the body making localised damage. Now we didn’t see shrapnel, but we found the destruction,” he said.

The doctors also found that patients who were stabilised after one or two days suddenly died. “The patient dies without any apparent scientific cause,” Dr Saqa’a said. Photographs of some of the dead from Shifa hospital showed bodies that had been melted and blackened beyond recognition. In several cases doctors amputated badly burnt limbs.

At the Kamal Odwan hospital in Beit Lahiya, the deputy director, Saied Jouda, said he believed patients admitted even in recent days still showed signs of unusual injuries. The health ministry in Gaza reported that these injuries came from an “unprecedented type of projectile” and also noted severe burning and badly damaged internal organs.

Tissue samples from patients in Gaza were given to journalists from the Italian television channel RAI. In a documentary shown last week, the channel said the injuries appeared similar to the effects of Dime.

An Italian laboratory that analysed the samples reportedly said its results were compatible with the hypothesis that a Dime weapon was involved.

The weapon is still in the early stages of development in the US. It has a carbon-fibre casing and contains fine tungsten particles rather than metal shrapnel. It causes a very powerful blast, but with a much more limited radius than other explosives.

The Israeli military denies the use of Dime weapons.

“The defence establishment is investing considerable effort to develop weaponry in order to minimise the risk of injury to innocent civilians. With regard to allegations of the use of Dime weaponry, the Israel Defence Forces deny the possession or use of such weapons,” it said.

“In addition it should be emphasised that the IDF only uses weapons in accordance with international law.” Some Israeli military experts have also dismissed the suggestion that a Dime weapon is involved.

Legions Of Biometric Face Scanning Cameras To Be Installed At Heathrow Airport Within Weeks

To be linked up to huge database of travelers through boarding passes

In addition to full body scanners and enhanced grope downs, the latest big brother nightmare to hit airports comes in the form of biometric facial recognition cameras, set to be rolled out in terminals at Londons Heathrow Airport in September.

After an eighteen month trial, the Aurora Imaging Recognition (AIR) biometric system with enhanced image infrared cameras has been approved for use in the airport at terminals 1 and 5, reports the London Evening Standard.

Heathrow Skyport describes the process that travelers will have to undergo after the system is adopted:

Passengers are enrolled into the system and the biometric photo is linked with the boarding pass number on entry into the common user lounge, otherwise known as the departure lounge, at the first security check point.

Each passenger is then verified against their previous enrolment when the airside area before heading towards their departure gate.

It has the ability to identify people from a distance of 40cm to one metre, meaning that personal space is not imposed upon, and has been designed for people of different heights, including wheelchair users and children.

Tests conducted by the independent airport operator BAA and the UK Border Agency found that each face scan takes approximately 4-5 seconds.

There is no indication that anyone will be allowed to opt out of the procedure, meaning that for all travelers it will be compulsory to have a face scan and be added to the database in order to fly out of the terminal.

The justification for the system is to prevent passengers swapping tickets in the departure lounge, potentially allowing an international passenger to fly domestically, thus bypassing immigration checks.

The operators also say that the system will help identify potential terrorists, however it is not clear how this is possible given that they also claim that all data collected will be stored for up to 24 hours and then destroyed.

It is exactly this kind of loose justification and the bandying about of the word terrorism to sell nothing more than pure security theatre that has led to such a rampant backlash against the TSA takeover in the US.

The British government has been moving toward the use of such systems for some time. Three years ago we reported that passport control officers at UK airports were to be phased out in favour of the biometric cameras.

It was then revealed two months later that Interpol, the International Criminal Police Organization, wishes to integrate a facial database with its already existing fingerprint and DNA databases.

The organization, is planning to expand its role into the mass screening of passengers moving around the world by creating a face recognition database to catch wanted suspects, reported the London Guardian at the time.

Such a database will hold the records of every citizen who has ever traveled in and out of virtuallyevery country in the world, representing intelligence agency style bulk interception of information.

We have previously noted that the vast array of databases currently being employed by intelligence agencies, government and law enforcement agencies worldwide were designed to be linked together in a system which will tie in the management and control of all facets of life for citizens to one central hub.

2008 saw the announcement of a vast intelligence program to establish a global biometric database known as Server in the Sky that will collate and provide an International Information Consortium with access to the biometric measurements and personal information of citizens across the globe in the name of fighting the war on terror.

As reported by the London Guardian, the long term plan is being formulated by the FBI with the cooperation of the home offices and law enforcement agencies of American allies. The technology is being supplied by the US defense company Northrop Grumman.

Furthermore, the use of such technology, as we have already seen, will not be limited to the passport control office.

A 2007 British government report muted an extensive upgrade to cctv systems all across the country to incorporate facial scanning technology. The report suggested a central database of every camera and a network allowing access to it could be beneficial.

In the US there are several schemes that use Facial Recognition Technology in conjunction with Federal agencies, tying the technology to traditional documents such as drivers licenses, passports and credit cards.

A biometric face recognition system has already been approved in China and is expected to be used at airports, customs entrances, banks, post offices, residential areas and other public places in the near future.

Other proposals include placing the cameras in every seat on aircraft and installing software to try and automatically detect terrorists or other dangers caused by passengers.

We are assured that cigarette vending machines will employ the technology in order to enforce smoking laws. Similarly, supermarkets in the UK have already started trialing the technology with the justification being a crackdown on underage drinking.

In Japan facial scanning cameras are being installed in train and bus stations to replace tickets in a move to make the individual features of the face a unique bar code as part of an antiterrorism and anticrime initiative.

Police in Tokyo are also asking home and shop owners to mount the cameras outside their properties. Police investigating an incident in the neighborhood would have access to these images. according to reports.

Cell phones and computers are now also being produced with face scanning cameras, and evenfacebook has now integrated facial recognition software.

The prospect of the technology being so widely used was recently even critisized by Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt. A prominent Bilderberger and a man who once said that internet users should have no expectation of privacy, Schmidt said Show us 14 photos of yourself and we can identify who you are, before warning governments of adopting any foolish legislation that would see facial recognition technology become a part of everyday life.

Police raid Milan offices of Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s

As stock and bond markets across the world tumbled on fears about Italy and Spain, it emerged that police acting on orders from prosecutors had raided the Milan offices of rating agencies Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s as part of continuing investigations into their role in the recent financial turmoil.

Italian shares plunged on Thursday, with some leading firms losing more than 10% of their value. But the closing level of the benchmark FTSE MIB index was not released for reasons that remained unclear more than an hour after the close.

Among the factors behind the share fall was a widening of the risk premium on Italian state debt. The extra return demanded by investors for holding benchmark 10-year Italian bonds rather than the German equivalents touched 3.7 percentage points.

Carlo Maria Capistro – chief prosecutor of Trani, a small Adriatic port – told Reuters that his office was checking to see whether the rating agencies “respect regulations as they carry out their work”. The raids took place on Wednesday as Italy’s prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi, addressed parliament on the mounting crisis.

He and other leading Italian politicians often cite speculation as a cause of market storms that involve a run on the country’s shares or bonds. And the media habitually depicts sell-offs as attacks on Italy.
