Ten-Year-Old’s “Pizza Gun” Brings Harsh Punishment

Many well-meaning people believe that banning guns would make us safer, but my bleeding heart goes out to people like 11-year-old Alyssa Gutierrez, who used one of her family’s guns to defend herself and her family’s house when three armed burglars attempted to break in while young Alyssa was home alone.
Without a gun to protect herself, Alyssa, who was taught how to fire it just days before her home was attacked, would have been a helpless victim, not a proud and empowered defender of home and self. Those are actually Alyssa’s words, who told a local news channel: “I felt proud of myself.”
And Alyssa should. Having never been attacked like this, I can’t even imagine what it’s like to be home alone while three armed men try to break in to my house, and while it hasn’t been so many years since I was 11 years old, it has been long enough that I certainly can’t imagine what it would be like to face such a terrifying situation at such a young age. (At the age of 11, I was still afraid of the dark, aliens, dogs, ghosts, and the Easter Bunny… not even kidding.)
But Alyssa didn’t let the fear, nor the danger faze her. While she says her heart was pounding, her mind was poised and decisive– the kind of confidence and poise that comes with knowing you have the means to defend yourself. When three armed burglars burst through the door from the outside, one of them brandishing a rifle, Alyssa immediately ran to her parent’s room to get her mother’s gun. Loaded and ready, Alyssa turned to confront the three armed men, who spooked and ran away.
Foreigners Dump US Treasury In Record Numbers

With year end fund flows making absolutely no sense for the most part, thank you global central planning, as the euro plunges and the market refuses to follow, with risk assets rising on speculation the ECB (and/or Fed) are about to restart printing yet gold collapsing (on one or two hedge funds liquidating, yet econ PhDs already rewriting their theses on why the “gold bubble has popped”), and finally with Treasurys soaring to near all time highs (10 Year under 1.9% yesterday even as stocks surged on data from the National Advertisers of Realtors, aka NAR, of all fraudulent and corrupt entities), here is the latest observation to make the confusion complete. As the Fed’s critical H.4.1 weekly update shows (which is leaps and bounds more accurate than the Treasury’s TIC international fund flow data), in the week ended December 28, foreign investors sold the second highest amount of US bonds in history, or $23 billion, bringing total UST custodial holdings to $2.67 trillion, a level first crossed to the upside back in April. This number peaked at $2.75 trillion in mid-August, and as the chart below shows the foreign holdings of US paper have been virtually flat in all of 2011, something which is in stark contrast with what the price of the 10 Year would indicate vis-a-vis investor demand. And going back further, the last week is merely the latest in a series of Custodial account outflows. In fact, in the last month (trailing 4 weeks), foreigners have sold a record $69 billion in US paper, a monthly outflow that was approached only once – in the aftermath of the US downgrade (when erroneously it is said that a surge in demand for US paper pushed rates lower – obviously as the chart shows nothing could be further from the truth).
So here is the conundrum for today: did China continue to dump US paper in the year end, something we saw started with the October TIC data, or was it French banks continuing to sell off any non-EUR assets, and in the process repatriate proceeds, keeping the EUR higher. We don’t know, nor frankly, in this uber-centrally p(l)anned market, do we care much any longer.

H1N1 Is Back With Government Improvements!
A deadly strain of bird flu with the potential to infect and kill millions of people has been created in a laboratory by European scientists – who now want to publish full details of how they did it.
The discovery has prompted fears within the US Government that the knowledge will fall into the hands of terrorists wanting to use it as a bio-weapon of mass destruction.
Some scientists are questioning whether the research should ever have been undertaken in a university laboratory, instead of at a military facility.
The US Government is now taking advice on whether the information is too dangerous to be published.

It is a sign of just how fast the police state is advancing that drones in American skies have gone from conspiracy theory to admitted fact in about a year.
In a precedent-setting event, local law enforcement in North Dakota nabbed three suspected armed men with the help of a Predator B unmanned drone. It was only after the drone confirmed that the men were unarmed that police moved in to make the arrest.
It has now become clear that, as we have written and warned about for the past year, the drones that were supposedly commissioned strictly as tools for border control will now patrol inland for suspected criminals on American soil, heralding a new level of police state oppression.
In April I wrote about the future expansion of unmanned drones over America based on the admissions made by two-star General, John Priddy, from the U.S. National Air Security Operations Center, evidenced in the video below, that the continued expansion of predator drone surveillance was a stated goal for the coming years.
